Senator John Jasinski named Legislator of Distinction by the Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities

Minnesota State Senator John Jasinski (Faribault) was honored by the Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities (CGMC) on Thursday, July 23 as one of the organization’s Legislators of Distinction for 2026.

“I am so grateful to be honored by CGMC once again,” Sen. Jasinski said. “It’s hard to run a city in Minnesota, particularly these last couple years when so many expensive mandates and costs and have been imposed on them by the governor and the legislature. I used to serve as mayor and as a city council member, so I know what it’s like to face their challenges every day. When cities tell me what they need -- and just as important, what will make their lives harder -- I listen and take them seriously. I am proud of the work we have done together over the years and look forward to even more success in the future.”

In a press release, CGMC said: “A tenacious and consistent advocate for key Greater Minnesota programs, no lawmaker understands or advocates for the region’s Business Development Public Infrastructure (BDPI) program better than Sen. Jasinski. He consistently draws on his prior experience as a mayor to remind lawmakers why this key program needs adequate funding and to make the case for its impact on Greater Minnesota communities.”

The award was presented at the CGMC annual banquet in New Ulm on July 23.

The Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities is a nonprofit, nonpartisan advocacy organization representing more than 100 cities outside of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. The Coalition also educates legislators about issues important to Greater Minnesota.
